I suppose I chose a bad example, but it was not a matter of him belonging to a different religion, or of manners evolving, it was simply a matter of him thinking that manners were for other people, not something he had to be concerned about.
editted to add; Joel posted while I was thinking, but I agree with him. Like at sporting events when we stand for each other's national anthems.There are people that don't even do that anymore.
