Burns Night 2012 Victoria British Colombia
On January 21st, around 500 people gathered together to celebrate Robbie Burns night supper sponsored by The Greater Victoria Police Pipe Band in beautiful "Sidney By the Sea" British Columbia.
The steaming Haggis was piped in with all Pomp and Honer this mighty beast deserves.
We dined on Haggis, Barron of Beef, Rosemary Chicken, steamed fresh BC Vegetable Medley, assorted Buns and Deserts that outright sinful. A choice of Wines, Beers and of course a nice sampling of Scotch Whiskeys.
We were treated to the fabulous Pipes of the Greater Victoria Police Pipe Band, Dancing by the very talented Bon Accord Dancers. We were privileged to enjoy the solo piping of Piper James P. Troy, a great rendition of Mull of Kintyre by three musical and vocal artists.
The Gay Gordens was danced by at least one half of the merry rabble much to the enjoyment of all.
The skirl of the pipes, the booming of the drums, the meeting of new friends, the sight of swirling tartan kilts of the Lads, and colorful dresses of the Lasses will remain in our memory for a long time.
Oh... and we were watched over by the head of Robbie Burns himself, in a glass case. He was sent to his supper by The Royal London Wax Museum in Victoria.
