Boy, did I get some abuse!
I visited a big client of mine today, a very "blokey" workshop, they have known me for 15 years or more, I am a regular contractor.
I'd been there before in a kilt, to test the waters, I was received reasonable well and since then one of the managers often asks where my kilt is, plus the usual jokes like "my wife wears the pants in the family", all in good humour.
But today, one of the bosses came in and saw me standing there discussing a job - in a kilt.
Now this man is definately the redneck type, he has a foul mouth but a heart of gold, I actually like the guy.
When he saw me he nearly had a heart attack, his face went red, his eyes bulged, he blurted out a few choice words and demanded to know why I was wearing a 'f'-n' skirt and dressing like a sheila (Australian for female).
Naturally I calmly explained that I was wearing a male garment and that it was very comfortable.
After calling in a few other workers to come and see the guy in a skirt, he began making suggestive comments about my legs and what was under the 'skirt'. I laughed it off and told him that I was sorry that I didn't fancy him, he was not my type.
Later in the day I emailed him some info about kiltwearing and told him that he would look great in a kilt.
I really enjoyed the experience and was thankful that my confidence has grown to handle such an onslaught. My thanks go to you all for helping build that confidence.
I raise my glass to all the bravehearts here
Life is good kilted!
