Running The Kilt
Yesterday I completed a 6km run down a mountainside through snow and ice wearing my 13oz Dark Alba wool kilt. Carrying large pack and had spikes on my hiking boots. Thirty two years of running experience and sixty six years of being a no brainer carried me down through the forests and over the streams. Past a few fashion icons on the track garbed in latest fashion much to their surprise but with a swish of my kilt I was past them before they could get the Nikkons out. The only problem as I reached the lower slopes towards the end of my run I felt my kilt getting lower and lower down my legs. Although I don't carry a gut I had no sporran or belt, my kilt only kept up by the straps on the sides. Unfortunately for me the weight of my pack and its waist strap was pushing my kilt down. By the time I got to the bottom of the mountain it was like I was wearing a 1970's Maxi skirt.(who remembers those passion killers) Next time I will wear my off road trail shoes and mountain running pack. I didn't bother who saw me or what they thought. I was Running The Kilt.
I'd rather wear out than rust out.
