Reading through the various wedding threads, most seem to deal with someone attending a wedding kilted or as a groom/groomsman and if the bride and groom...ok if the bride was ok with it.

In my case, my mother is getting married this fall and has requested that my brother and I wear our kilts when we give her away. What I am looking for direction on is how formal we should be. The groom and groomsmen will all be wearing tuxes so I assume we would go with a PC? It will be an afternoon wedding outside.

Since we will be the only ones kilted, I figure we shouldn't go overboard and keep everything else fairly subdued. The tartan we will be wearing is the MacMillan Hunting modern. Should we go with a solid color hose in this instance? Patterned? Does it matter at all? I have a small assortment (black, a variety of blues and greens). The wedding isn't until August so I have plenty of time to order something different if there are suggestions.

I am also looking for additional feedback on a few sporran makers. I have been in contact with 3 about having a custom sporran made from my wolverine pelt and am having a hard time narrowing it down to one. (W.E. Scott and Sons, Janet Eagleton or Kate MacPherson) I am still torn on if I want a full mask sporran or not. After exchanging some pictures with the sporran makers, it seems that the cartilage was left in the nose and since it has settled in a somewhat smashed position following the tanning process, they might not be able to be reshaped into a decent looking nose. In that case I would forgo a full mask.

I am fairly familiar with W. E. Scott's sporrans, but haven't had much exposure to Janet or Kate’s work. If anyone has experience with their products, I would love to hear...or see.

Thanks,

GMC
