Links?
Would it be possible to have a forum (possibly in the Community area) where members could post recommendation links. The kind of thing I am thinking of is not what is being sold by our Advertisers and Partners, but rather the manufacturer or retailer that sells a variety of goods, but also sells staghorn buttons as a sideline, for example. Or the pin type button maker, who would be willing to make one-off pins that could be used as kilt pins. Or a metal worker who would make buckles. Or a seamstress/tailor who will make a tartan waistcoat on the bias as well. Or, or, or.
We often get links, during the course of a thread about something else. Unless, we make a note of the link then and there, it is lost. We have to try and remember what the thread was about and then try to find it in the tag cloud.
How much better would it be, to have a dedicated forum where all these threads could be posted. All the normal forum rules would apply (maybe more rigorously as we are talking about a site over which we would have no control). If it didn't meet the standards, the mods could remove it - maybe with a note saying "inappropriate links on site" or some such. As it stands at the moment, if a link is posted in a thread, we can only hope that it is appropriate.
The title would have to be something like "Wooden buttons - any wood - any size". Any title that said just "Great Deal!!!!", could be removed immediately.
If properly modded, I do not believe that it would detract from Partners and Advertisers.
Regards
Chas
