Also, in regards to the length of flashes or garter ties when worn with hose; you can easily see how my Chief, Sir William Alan Macpherson of Cluny and Blairgowrie, TD, is wearing garter ties with just a wee bit of the fringed ends showing. Whereas with me, you can easily see that I am wearing woolen flashes with a considerable amount of them showing. These are two clear examples of perfectly acceptable ways of wearing two different styles of garters.
