So we went to Dixie Stampede (a dinner theater owned by Dolly Parton in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee) Yesterday for an award ceremony with the Girl Scouts. I decided that this would be a good time to get my "baptism by fire" for wearing a kilt in public with no other reason than wanting to. Needless to say, I was the only person kilted in the building. Aside from a few questioning glances, it went well. I must say that I really enjoyed it and will be doing it more often.
After the show we went into Gatlinburg for a little stroll. I was NOT accepted as well there. A lot of double takes, laughter, sneaking pictures, and even some wolf whistles. One of the reasons for wanting to go to Gatlinburg was to stop in at the shop where I bought my kilt and see if they had some flashes. I experienced similar treatment here, IN THE SAME SHOP THAT I BOUGHT THE KILT FROM
(not from the shop but the customers in it).
It's all good though! I did not let any of that get me down. Just a typical response from the uneducated idiot masses.
