Still looking to a proper pair of blue hose, also... do you think the kilt pin should be off the stripe into the black?

Now that you mention it (and I had to really look for where it is located in your pic - I didn't notice it the first time I looked), it could come in toward the center of the apron a little bit, and you could bring it up an inch or two and put it across the horizontal red stripe (mid-thigh), take it down and center it in the black square, or further down across the lowest red stripe.

In addition to blue hose, you could also go with claret or bottle-green hose, or be really bold and daring and go for mustard yellow!
