I haven't logged on to XMarks in a while, and just came across this thread. I must add my own post in support of Tim and the House of Labhran. I have dealt with them off and on for some years, and have always gotten the highest quality and the highest service.
I just received 5 sets of Piper's cross belt sets of the Argyll & Sutherland Highlanders for my reenacting group from House of Labhran, and I could not be happier with the quality and service. The pieces are museum quality, and just not available for love nor money from anyone outside of Scotland. I have several custom jobs outstanding with Tim just now, and the service just cannot be beaten. Do not hesitate to deal with this firm, they are the very top.
"Before two notes of the theme were played, Colin knew it was Patrick Mor MacCrimmon's 'Lament for the Children'...Sad seven times--ah, Patrick MacCrimmon of the seven dead sons....'It's a hard tune, that', said old Angus. Hard on the piper; hard on them all; hard on the world." Butcher's Broom, by Neil Gunn, 1994 Walker & Co, NY, p. 397-8.
