Fair Hill Scottish Games at the Colonial Highland Gathering in Fair Hill, MD
Hi all! It's been a few months since I last posted. My wife and I attended the 54th Annual Scottish Games at the Colonial Highland Gathering in Fair Hill, Maryland last Saturday (May 17). This was the first time we have attended this event and were surprised at it's size and quality. Needless to say we had a great time and met a number of interesting people.
Four bands competed in a Grade 2 Pipe Band Competition sanctioned by the Eastern US Pipe Band Association. The bands were all excellent and included: City of Washington, New York Metro, Stuart Highlanders and the Ottawa Police Service.

Simon Fraser fought as MacShimidh, a Highland chief… wrapped and belted in a plaid over the top of his linen shirt, like his ordinary kinsmen. He put a bonnet on his head, and stuck the Fraser emblem, a sprig of yew, in it. With the battle cry, A'Chaisteal Dhunaidh and the scream of the pipes, they charged to battle.
