I've also found that a traditional kilt doesn't need cleaning as often as a suit. Since it isn't clinging to your unmentionables, it doesn't seem to absorb much sweat or dirt. I go over it with a nice damp cloth every few days, and haven't had to wash it yet (I've had it over 3 months).

Also, it has been mentioned that a wool kilt can be cleaned via a soak in cold water with very mild soap (such as Woolite). In this case you could keep your buckles and pin out of the water fairly easily, and save on dry cleaning.

My Utilikilt, on the other hand, I wash every week or two of wear.
