    I Knew It!!!

I knew that somehow, somewhere I had to have a Scottish ancester or ancestress. My father's name is Welsh (and I was so happy to find that we were not English--LOL) . But my mon's name was an Anglocized Schmidt-- Smith: German through and through as far as I could see. But today as I was visiting her, she read me a letter sent years ago by one of her cousins and very recently recovered from lost storage. It was the beginning of a family history of her and my mother's grandfather.

It turns out that as a young man, my great-grandfather was a cowboy and farmhand for a family named Grames. He liked the job so well, great grandfather married the farmer's daughter, Mary. Seems that Grames is a variation of Graham. I am not exactly sure yet as to what place of origin in Scotland her family lived, but it is a start. I also know that one my maternal great aunts married a MacKenzie. So I am kind of, sort of, maybe if I stretch it related to the MacKenzies by marriage.

Anyway, it seems that I now do not have to have any better reason to wear a kilt. I do not yet know what the Graham tartan is, but I will have to find out. ith:

Hope all of you have a great week. My first kilt, USAKilts' Celtic Nations, is on its way. Yipppeeee!!!!!!!
