well, i dont know but ......

i've been wearing the kilts to work two or three days a week. my colleages are, for the most part, ok with it and don't have any problems. of course i still get the "we know who wears the pants in your house" business, but it's all in jest. and i don't mind.

due to my wifes and i commute distance, we hit the fuel stop every two days for a fill up. killer these days. glad i sold the big bronco! not really. i loved that bronc.

anyway, we hit the same station nearly everytime. the first time we went in and i was kilted, the attendant, a female, blared out over the outdoor loudspeakers, 'love the skirt'. of course everyone turned to look. and i was self conscience. and now when we stop in, we talk genealogy and about her family from Ireland. but she's always got to say something about my knees or where's the kilt? everytime. pretty neat.

as others on the board, i'm in a rural area and as rural areas go, they tend to shy away from anything out of the ordinary. others here have mentioned their first Walmart run in a kilt. well, i did mine. and it was rather uneventful. the greeter, an elderly lady of no less than 70 years gave me the evil eye as I walked in, but on the way out, she smiled as if we were good friends.

after the Walmart run, the mrs wanted to look at shoes... again ... ( and all of a sudden she thinks i'm obsessed ) .... ( where'd that come from ) .... so we hit the local cheap shoe outlet. it's a college town and so the shoe store has college students ( i.e., girls) working the counters and walking the floor. man, when i walked in kilted, they just flat stopped talking and stared at me as we walked by. they never said anything, but it was kind of weird.

anyway, i guess i'm saying that wearing a kilt not only makes me walk different, it makes others walk different too.
