Yes, to a point.
Listening and presenting an opposing view is debate.
Drowning out your opponent, as I've often seen on college campus's, by shouting, chanting to the point they cannot be heard is a detriment to free speech.
I'm sure the young Piper meant well and he did 'get involved' when there was an issue he could not abide....a slightly lesser approach maybe.
