That's an excellent combination Al. Irish National Tartan and an Arran-style sweater in 'Natural' colour - perfect.
Actually, I am drooling over that tartan - it's gorgeous! How I wish I had some Irish blood in me so that I could wear it!!!!!!  My late English grandmother, at one time in her early years, worked as Housekeeper to a titled family in County Athlone ........... I wonder if THAT would qualify me 
Thank you, Ham! I've got an email in to an Irish Aran sweater weaver to see if they can find the pattern for my family name. I've always been told that "Gingles" is a very common name in Ireland, yet I cannot find any information or history at all!
And yes, I think you "qualify" to wear the Irish National tartan. I think you of all people should be able to wear whatever tartan you fancy. Go for it!
