Scottish kilt maker
Hi, I have been bottling this up for long enough and have just got to tell someone! After intensive searching on the net, I came up with what I considered a good deal. It is on Scottishkilts.net
The offer an eight-yard, 14 oz. woolen, machine-made in Glasgow kilt for $311.75. The website is well done, very professional and all that. This model of kilt comes only in selection of tartans which are specified. Here's where the "fun" comes in. When you select a tartan for this $311.75 kilt, there is no way to view the tartan prior to buying. You can go on their tartan-finder which is very good, but there is no method by which to cross-reference to the selection of tartans. And of course we should all know that the clans have so many patterns and variations. This is kid's stuff that no one is going to buy a kilt when they do not know what tartan pattern they are getting. I told this to a certain David MacSweeney at Scottish Kilts he said that if I was to give him a general description of my color preferences, he would send me appropriate scans. This he did after some delay, adding that he would gladly send more if I liked. I asked for another couple. I haven't heard a word since despite my repeated emails! What do you folks make of this? Go on the site and check it out; tell me what you think. I would be very interested to know if any of you have done any business with this firm already. Thanks,- Alan
