Out at the pub
Last night I went to hear a band ("The Serfs") at a local pub. They play a variety, and blends, of music from different cultures.
The first hour or so was quiet (no kilt comments). Then the waitress passed by and said "Nice Kilt" When the band took a break, I stood up. That lead to several comments from women about the the kilt. Good work Rocky!
The problem with beer is that some time after it goes in, it must go out. So while waiting in line to get into the "little kilters room" , a woman said "Nice Skirt". Then, from inside the men's room, I heard her say, "I like men in skirts." I thought, "You probably like them out if their skirts also!"
One woman asked what clan I was from. She said she was Scottish. I told her that I didn't really know. To borrow an expression that Jimmy used, at best, I am a thimble Scot.
The only issue during the evening in the pub was one drunk. Thought he was looking for a fight and might be a problem. Not because of the kilt, but because he was drunk.
I panicked while walking back to the car. We passed a group of men that obviously had a few drinks. One shouted "Nice Kilt." I thought, "Here it comes." But he asked what was the occasion. I just shook his hand and thanked him for the "Nice Kilt" comment.
So the evening went perfectly. One friend was concerned about going out with a guy in a kilt. But, I think he will get over it. Now my friends understand that it is not a costume.
