British Army Spats size
Good day all,
As a piper, I have as of late begun to build a No 1 dress ensemble, and as such require spats. I have read that the only spats worth wearing are the ones that do up exclusively with buttons, ie, no Velcro. To this end I have been looking into surplus British Army spats (Gaiters,Highland). My question is, what size is likely to fit me best, having size 10 feet and average calves?
You see, the Gaiters, Highland use a unique sizing system which goes from size 1 to size 9, whereas most civilian spats just use shoe size.
I wear size 4 naval gaiters (WWII style anklets) if that helps.
Thanks!
