Thank you for all the replies, I really appreciate it.
I’m not into the reanacting. I got the great gilt idea from the “Kilted Bushcraft Highlander” on YouTube and really want to try hunting and bushcrafting in a great kilt.
I really really enjoy the weathered stewart hunting tweed and had contemplated a kilt in that but think the colours may be on the formal softer side than what I’m looking for. Although it may look really good as a great kilt when out in the woods.
I’ve looked at the ancient, large sett versions but nothing jumps out at me.
I did see these bracken stewart tartans today by loch carron and they really have my interest peaked.

I think the real problem in the amount of options I have and that it’s hard to visualize them.
