Well, the comment I got was that the red robe was one to die for!
Incidentally, after the ceremony I had to give it back (a pity!), BUT on my way to join my guests, a charming Chinese female graduate grabbed hold of me and asked if she could have her photo taken with a guy in a kilt (she wanted a souvenir of her graduation in Scotland to show to family in Shanghai). I was happy to oblige while her exquisitely polite Chinese boyfriend took the pics. She could have had her pick of almost any kiltie that day - most of whom weren't Scots - there were a lot of US, Greek, German, Spanish, Chinese, Australian, and South American men graduating in kilts. I didn't have the heart to tell her I was Irish!!
