I did find a reference to A&SH in Singapore. Kilts were not mentioned.
It could be the Argylls, who were in Singapore when it fell to the Japanese. In fact, the 2nd Argylls fought their way down the Malayan peninsula and were one of the last British units accross the causeway into Singapore. The 250 Argylls were attached to Royal Marine survivors of the HMS Prince of Wales and HMS Repulse, part of the RM's Plymouth Division, and fought until the British surrendered Singapore in 1942.
