Fabrics, etc
Okay, so I'm going to take the plunge at the end of the school year and start making some casual kilts following the excellent instructions given me by Jeff at Pittsburgh kilts...btw, if anybody wants the links he sent me, I'll post them on this thread sometime...
I have a bunch of questions, and the biggest one on my mind now is...where should I buy fabric?
To clarify, I'm going to try and build several similar or identical lined kilts, possibly denim and flannel? I think that's what Jeff uses, although I'm not sure of the weight of denim or flannel, so I guess I'd like advice on what weights to use together...but what I really want to know is, is there a place where I can buy the fabric for cheaper if I buy in bolts of say 30 yards of each type? I figure I can get maybe 5 kilts out of that, perhaps I'm estimating too high...
But I'd like to start wearing kilts as close to full-time as I can, and making a bunch of my own is the cheapest way to go...
So, prices on fabrics, most specifically denims and flannels, as well as recommended weights and any hints about yardage, etc etc. Like I said, I have Jeff's links, as well as Barb's book which will provide good insights, and a SWK for some degree of reference...
Thanks!
