I've noticed an increase lately in Saltires being flown from private houses locally, where previously these tended to only fly from guest houses. I do possess a full size saltire but as yet don't have a suitable pole for it. I was reminded of this yesterday when hoisting the Union Jack at the aviation museum while wearing my black watch kilt. As our museum is all about the Royal Air Force's contribution to World War II and the Cold War this is the only flag which would be appropriate there. Yet, in a few weeks time, with England taking part in the World Cup I will undoubtedly pass many St. George flags on my way to and from the airport and it would be nice to think people with Scots ancestry could be equally patriotic to fly their flag. It would be interested to know how many X-markers fly the Saltire at their homes.
