During my holiday last week I rode on the Jacobite Steam Train
To Mallaig Harbour where the ferry leaves for the Isle of Skye
Besides two or three kilted passengers, this young piper wore a MacDonald kilt and played during the stops at Glenfinnan and at Mallaig.
Today being the final day of my holiday I visited the Locomotion museum at Shildon, near Darlington in the north-east of england, where I photographed the City of Truro, which in 1903 became the first steam locomotive to travel faster than 100 miles per hour.
Close to the City of Truro was this small collection of pipers and drummers, playing at the museum entrance, despite the rain.
