Many of those wonderful and familiar pipe tunes played by competing bands seem to be named after people... Dora MacLeod, Hugh Kennedy, Donald Cameraon, Blair Drummond, .. etc. Although the tunes are well known, the names behind them seem to be rather obscure.

I couldn't find any information on these people.... who they were or why they are immortalized in music - a search on the net produces a lot of CD listings but that's about it. I'm curious to know if I'm the only one that ever wondered about this.
