I started to wear my belt through the loops, until my wife pointed out the lifting as the belt rope up against the top of the loop. After I started wearing the belt "sans loops," I discovered that if I hiked up the kilt to where it's supposed to be (at my waist rather than the hips) the belt stayed exactly where it was supposed to be as well.
