First time out and about
Well, I finally got the SWK black watch from Alan H. early last week. I tried it on immediately and it fit great (I'm going to get some pictures up eventually). I spent the next couple days just wearing it around the house and trying to get used to it (or more appropriately, getting used to being modest).
Saturday, I finally got the chance to wear it out of the house for more than just the walk to the car. We were going over to a co-worker/friends house to just relax and have fun. They were a little shocked when I showed up in a kilt (non-regimental as they have a 2 year old daughter who didn't need to learn anatomy from me) but seemed pretty cool about it.
Me and Dave ended up having to run to the store to pick up some baking ingredients (my wife was teaching his how to bake). We were standing outside finishing up a nicotene fix when some guy honked his horn. Dave flipped him off and I asked why. He said the guy "honked and did this *gives thumbs up*". Then I reminded him that I was wearing a kilt. He kinda chuckled about it.
That was really the only instance (and hopefully that guy's not too pissed). I didn't get any comments in the store, or at a busy Blockbuster later that evening. But it was nice to finally get out (even though the wife still thinks its stupid.) Now I just need to get a sporran so that I don't need to have a hoodie when I wear it. A Michigan State hoodie goes really well with the black watch tartan.
