I have to tell you that I didn't have a single negative comment when out and about in my kilt this weekend. It's not because I'm so incredibly cool or good looking--I am neither--it's just the way things went.
Most of the people I encountered wanted to tell me about their Scottish relatives, heritage, envy, and/or admiration. And several asked where I'd left my bagpipes. (I don't play yet, but I simply said "at home" so as to end that part of the repartee.)
Nothing I like better than being kilted and talking to folks.
