Last August I was in Las Vegas, Nevada for a conference. On the last night got to the Tilted Kilt in the Rio. They have goodies there that include a leather jacket. I wanted one bad but we were leaving the next day and I was too tapped out. I did buy a Tilted Kilt t-shirt.

When funds were back I called and was told they have no way to send out jackets or other goodies. Seemed unusual, but as it turned out the lady was right.

A few months later I decided to check their website and see if their on line store was opened yet. It wasn't. I did call Tilted Kilt's main office and emailed them. I sort of begged. A nice guy said someone would call me, but no one did. So a few weeks later I called back to find out why no one was calling me back but could only leave a voice mail. Somewhere in that process the owner of the Tilted Kilt Las Vegas called me at home in December following up. We had a great chat and he promised to find a way to ship me a jacket. I gave him my credit card number and he, in turn gave me a great deal on the price and invited me to meet him next trip to Las Vegas.

Only the jacket never showed up. About three weeks after my credit card was charged I called the Tilted Kilt Rio...I was told that my jacket was in the manager's office and the operations guy was supposed to mail it out but that he was lazy. They said they'd send it. Nothing arrived. About ten days later I called again and the jacket was still in the office. More promises, no jacket. Finally, I sent a "firm" email but no one responded. Guess the concept of having a email contact feature on their website then actually READING the emails had been overlooked. So last week, five weeks after my card was charged I called Tilted Kilt Rio yet again and got yet another promise. But today...IT ARRIVED!

Now, as screwy as the process was, the first lady was correct. They are just not set up to ship their Tilted Klt logo products yet. So, if you want one of these you'll need to go to Las Vegas to get one....unless, some day, they get their web store opened up. The owner of the Tilted Kilt Rio also explained that the Tilted Kilt store is actually owned by someone other than himself. Apparently lots of franchising and different areas of responsibility caused a lot of the confusion.

But this is a fine jacket. Its leather, has an elastic waistband on the sides, regular waistband on the back. They sent an extra set of snaps in case one goes bad. It is fully lined AND there is a zip in Thinsulate liner that has a cut out so you can still reach the inside wallet pocket if you want to. Two side handwarmer pockets. Zip front. Two snaps on each cuff for adjusting to wrist size. Manufacturer is Reed who says they've been in business since 1950. This is a quality jacket even though it was made in China.

I like that the back logo only has the Tilted Kilt name. I think it looks better than their kilted barmaid logo like they use on the t-shirts.

One more reason for you guys to come to the Las Vegas X Marks gig in April.
