Good for you I am sure that your new kilt will keep you warm. Heck even if you came north it would keep you warm up here, and it sounds like it will be way more comfortable than 2 kilts at once.
Boots and layers are important though, I have been out in -20 in my 16 oz and been very toasty indeed, provided Iam wearing my boots and enough layers on top.
