Are there lots of Scots in Durham?
Hi all,
Looking over some family info, I found my GreatGreatGrandfather, John Gregor, was the earliest of the MacGregor clan in my family (that I can find anyhow) in the US. He was from is from Durham, and he came to this country in the late 19th century. Now, I know that Durham is in England, but I want to know if there were/are a lot of Scots in Durham. I think that this is probably a high probability, considering the very near proximity to the Scottish border. I am just curious, because I want to know if I am a bona fide, Scottish descended MacGregor, or just a poser ;) .
Thanks all,
MacG
