When did Tom Baker "bomb" in the States? It's certainly a be-hitch that any actor ever gets type-cast...really unfair...I 've read interviews with the Who's and they all seem to regret the type-casting but have no regrets about having been the Doctor. I was a a Who-Con a long time ago and Tom Baker showed up...worshipful fans as far as the eye could see...I even got an old Who fan friend of mine to watch Monarch by teling her that Tom Baker was a regular on it.

Tom Baker made an attempt at cracking the US market in the mid to late 1980's.
he got cast in a few bit parts as a villains "THUG" think it might have been on Miami Vice or maybe Simon & Simon, but his UK fame didn't follow him to America and soon he just Disappeared over here.
it's so sad, he really is a great actor.
