My Kilt at a "Southern Wedding"
A good friend of mine invited me to his wedding this past Sunday 6 May. He is an Army buddy, that came back from Afghanistan, and is redeploying to Iraq in August. I was really happy for him so my wife and I dressed up. I wore my PSD: Operation Iraqi Freedom Tartan, and drove the two hours to a small town in Western Virginia (not WV). I missed the wedding but went to the reception and realized I was a bit over dressed. One of the brides maids was a bit full figured, and wearing a pink t-shirt that said "diet Cherry Coke" and was two sizes to small. Most of the men had on jeans, but some had shirts with collars. Most did not. Only one person had a black tank top with the matching long neck Budweiser. When I walked in with my full dress Kilt, it was a bit awkward. I received many positive comments on the kilt, and one person even said I was the best dressed person there. The minister has a Clergy tartan neck tie, and after talking with me is thinking about getting a kilt for special occassions.
