Thanks for all your comments, though I'm still not convinced. The 'Hiking' kilt is not the same as the regular Sportkilt (shown in your example photos) in that it has almost the hang of printed silk rather than a woven cloth. I shall have to think about it. The regular lightweight material I have no problem with. All my neighbours are used to seeing me in a kilt, but the Hiking one I haven't yet worn outside the front door...apart from in the remoteness of the Welsh hills. It freaks me out a bit.
