Hiya! I’m Oli (Oliver) from Chicago, last names McIntosh. I was raised in Kentucky and was actually never exposed to my Scottish Heritage. Now at 32 I had an overwhelming desire to get in touch with my roots and heritage. Trust me, this wasn’t an over night desire. For the past 10 years I would proclaim my Scottish background but I still saw myself and my culture as the average white guy. Nevertheless I’m now exited to learn more and meet a more people of similar interest and views.
I’ve purchased my first Kilt. It’s nothing fancy and I’ll probably only wear it to pubs, camping, and anything else casual. I am exited however to get it! I also DJ here in the windy city and I’ll definably wear it while I play. I’m not trying to make this a gimmick in fact I’m prone to look at the casual kilt as just another article of clothing, yet this piece of clothing says something about you.

My new Kilt, it’s in transit right now.
It’s a Royal Stewart, I couldn’t find a McIntosh, or Macintosh tartan that I could afford. Hopefully I can convince my wife for a B-Day Present. Here it is.

I’m hoping to learn from you all and maybe eventually meet some of you. BTW, any one in Chicago give me a heads up. I want to try and enter the Highland Games in September and I could always use some advice and help training.

Cheers!
