Change of Heart Re: SWK
Not so long ago, and far away from other folk who go kilted, this newbie ordered a nightstalker sporran from SWK. It was my turn in the barrel, but your dog was having none of it. Somehow we got a real klinker of a lopsided sporran.
Your NSH poster skipped the review and went str8 to the RANT. Not too well received on a board with so many SWK devotees.
The rabble convinced me that getting bad merch from Jerry was a fluke, not a mode of operation. So I ordered again.
MAN AM I GLAD I DID!!!!!
JUST GOT MY SWK STANDARD HUNTING MACLEOD I am happy, the neighbors are happy (ever had a 300 lb guy sans kilt waiting for the mailman pacing up and down the street? that ain't right)
It ain't the tell of us one, it's the tell of a whole lot of us, so we got to start at the beginning.
Ordered a size 52 Utilikilt original to begin my kilted life. Followed the measuring instructions on their site. Was woefully disappointed when we got it. Fit the waist but painted on round abouts the buttocks. The youngsters in Seattle told me that once you get into the F.B. size range (full bodied) ... they don't have much of a waist to hip taper. They suggested I get a size 60 and have the waist darted 8 inches, belt loops moved, NYET TOVARICH!!!!
Some of us enormous lard s' deadlift, play with kettlebells and other activities which give us junk in the trunk. We ain't all str8 down from the gut. Pay attention you Starbucks swigging fools out yonder!
Currently about mid jones on my FK.... (and happily so)
So I made three kilts mine own self. One abortion, one disaster, one kilt that screams I ALMOST UNDERSTAND THE TWELVE STEPS AND THEY WILL LET ME OUT SOON. (but they all fit me better than the UK, Seattle Steven's claims of people who know their not withstanding)
We ordered a Macleod Hunting standard SWK , a cheapo sporran, extra obese sporran strap, copy of regimental kilt pin. Friday. My crack-enjoying mail person did not make the rounds yesterday (mini - jones) .Saw the red white and blue truck erratically making it's way down the lane and opened the door to a pretty little box from Stillwater.
Inside were a pair of Flashes, pretty and on the house also a complementary kilt hanger and everything we ordered. I am for the first time wearing a passable kilt. Much more than expected for the money paid.
Best of all it FITS!!!! WOOT!! The pleats, apron, and belt loops all do a great job of keeping the faith with the tartan. Simply blown away at the bang for the buck.
Not something we would choose to wear with an argyle or PC, but we have seen others do worse. For an everyday kilt that will be worn and enjoyed this is going to be hard to beat.
Lot's of things on my wishlist. But the SWK is a pleasant surprise. Will be ordering more of them and that right soon. Here's the plan.
Get some pics up .
Order another standard, one economy, one thrifty.
Get a comprehensive review together to help other newben understand that you don't have to sell a kidney to start your kilted life.
Jerry, we take back .4239078 percent of all the terrible things we said about you . Thanks very much for the flashes and the hanger. Nice surprise. And also for the speed of delivery. With a drug tested mail person, we would have been this happy 24 hours ago.
Stay tuned for some pics and specifics of this unbelievable budget gear. Was just so happy had to post something b4 we get down to photos and clear headed thinking.
