Request for someone to teach me to baste pleats
I need help from someone to get me started on basting kilt pleats.
I keep trying to sit down and figure out how to properly baste pleats so I can fix my saltire kilt's pleats and press them after a rogue dry cleaner didn't heed my request to not press it.
So...I've sat down with Barb's book several times and I have the general idea, but my mind keeps wandering off to other things before I actually get a needle and thread out to try it.
Plus, I don't entirely understand on which side to begin, how far through you sew the basting stitch, etc. I do know how to thread a needle, you'll be glad to hear. Just not much more than that.
Is there anyone in the Bay Area who wouldn't mind sitting down with me and getting me started on basting? I'm sure I'll hit my head because it was so simple, but i'd appreciate the help.
I'm happy to buy the generous soul a lunch or drinks to repay the kindness. I'm not working at present, so I am free just about any time, depending on location and traffic.
