Art on the Rocks
My Lady and I went to the Art on the Rocks art faire at Presque Isle park here in Marquette today. Lots of vendors, lots of potters this year. There was a really neat booth that had old fashioned wooden toys. And, of course, Jilly the Jilbert's Dairy cow:
They have a cow about twice that size outside the dairy on US-41 in Marquette.
You can walk out onto the breakwall from Preque Isle park, one of two in Marquette. I'm not sure how long it is, but I'd guess aroung 150 yards from beach to light, about half concrete and half piled stone.
Me out on the stone section:
Cassie on the concrete section. I'm on the lower level (it's got a central ridge that slants down to a flat space on either side):
The Superior Dome can be seen in the background, it's the largest wooden dome in the world. It's amazing to see waves in a storm go right over the breakwall and not even touch it. My grandpa and his buddies raced the waves on their bikes after the wall was built. I consider myself lucky to be alive.
Cheers,
Nick
