OK, it's not exactly a DIY. That's why I posted it under accessories. I did buy the jackets for $5 each myself, and I did drive by myself to the alterations place. I just figured that the time it takes me to do the conversion myself I could complete a sporran.

So here's my converted jacket. It started out as a Brooks Brothers lightweight tweed. Unfortunately I didn't get before pix, but you've all seen guys in tweed jackets. It's great material with a lot of give, unlike a lot of blazers. Clear evidence that even you folks who eschew the tailoring arts can have a nice casual kilt jacket for a very reasonable price.

Here's close-up of the material. It has subtle red and blue pinstripes. The alteration was $40.

I could have wished for a better curve in the sporran cutaway, but it's a two-button jacket and would have to have been cut right through the lower buttonhole.

Here are "before" pix of a Needless Mark-up green wool blazer made in January 1983 (stamped on the label inside the pocket). It's at the alterations place now. This one will cost $56 because I'm having the sleeves let down. I'll post the after pix when I pick it up next week.
