Well, here goes my attempt at posting pics. This was a formal event in our area as a fundraiser for charity. It's always black tie, and this year for the first time, I decided to go kilted (I just started wearing kilts about 3 months ago). Out of about 400 people I was the only one kilted. Nearly everyone who commented had positive things to say. I was even approached by people I didn't know just to say "You look good!"

The jacket is a PC conversion I made (with some help) from a black tailcoat. I appreciate all the efforts of Beedee, Cacunn, AlanH, Panache, Cavscout, TartanHiker, and others who posted "how-to's" and detailed directions. The jacket was a former rental off ebay. The buttons are diamond thistle, pewter, from NoOne's Business (great to work with). The epaulettes I made according to TartanHiker's directions using some black satin drapery cord I found at the fabric store. The buttons are pinned on using a "shank" pin--it looks like a bent safety pin. The seamstress I worked with thought this would prevent "button flop" and make the buttons easily removable for dry cleaning. I got a three button black vest on ebay and put additional smaller diamond thistle buttons on it.
