Another Zonie here. But its usually about five degrees cooler in the canyonlands than down in Phoenix.
One solution is to wear a cotton kilt (this a Utilikilt Survival II) and wade out into 45 degree river water.

Then, when you get out, if there's any wind at all you have a virtual swamp cooler.
