Aye, I'm new to here, but am a member of other kilt and Scots sites. I'm an 18th century Highland reenactor portraying 42nd Grenadiers in Rev. War, 77th Montomgery's Grenadiers in F & I War, and my group does Clan Chattan of the '45 (Jacobite). Been at it for 15 years and hold the rank of Brigade Sjt. Major in the recreated 18th century British Army here in North America. You're probably familiar with Civil War reenactors....we can't usually field thousands at a reenactment, but at large events we can field 600 to 800 Brits, with 50 to 75 of those being Highlanders (and approx. the same number of Continentals opposing us). F and I War and Jacobite is great also, as we do feilamors. Jacobite we mix tartans as in the Morier painting of Culloden. I have never done much with modern Highlanders, all my kilts being hand pleated except for two. But, I recently joined a group where Matt Newsome is on and am going to get modern Scots kit.
