G'day from Melbourne, Australia
G'day,
I've posted in the Advice section already with a question about the wearing of my first kilt. (Thanks everyone for your advice). But I thought I'd say 'Hi' here too. I haven't posted much, but I have been lurking and learning a lot. I have downloaded Alan H's X-Kilt Instructions, and with the help of my wife (who is an excellent amateur seamstress), I hope to own a second kilt sometime soon. My wife is currently making a Jacobite shirt for me to wear with it.
I am still very self-conscious about wearing a my kilt. But I'm sure I'll get used to it, and get the confidence to wear it more often.
Another question if I may (just curiosity this time). I was looking at the seam of my kilt (it's an 8-yard knife pleated kilt), and I noticed that the last pleat on the left hand side (just before it becomes the apron) has an extra line of curved stitching (like an additional seam) it runs for the length of the fold. At first I thought it was a mistake, but on further inspection it is obviously meant to be there. So I was wondering; is this normal, why is it there?
Thanks again for a very interesting forum.
