The House of Bruar
Hello, all.
I received a substantial bonus from my employer last October, and had a tough time deciding how to spend it. That the money would feed my kilt addiction was clear, but the details too a while to iron out.
Inspired by Hamish, I purchased and recently received my bespoke House of Bruar tweed kilt in their 16oz windowpane tweed. They stock off-the-peg kilts in standard sizes, but I requested a custom kilt and they replied with a small added charge. Very reasonable, I think.
The construction (machine sewn) is absolutely top-notch. Since it's a tweed and not a tartan the bottom is hemmed, which adds even more mass and swing to the finely spaced pleats. The lining is perfectly sewn, as is every other seam on the kilt. The quality exceeds my expectations by far, and I'm usually a tough guy to please. The fit and finish are absolutely perfect. (It looks long in the pics, but I think it's the camera angle.)
It will take a while to save up for another kilt from The House of Bruar, but their top-notch quality and excellent customer service guarantees I'll be a return customer. I hope to someday pick up one from their store in person!

Also shown in these pictures are my sporran and custom-tooled belt from Leather Sporrans (http://www.leathersporran.co.uk/). Here again, I can't speak highly enough to the quality, workmanship, and customer service. When it is time to expand my sporran collection, they'll certainly receive my business.
Finally, I'm also showing off my hand-knit hose. This is my second pair of hose, finished about two months after I learned to knit. (See? Anyone can do it!) I'm currently designing another pair to complement this tweed kilt, and will post pics when they're done.
Take care, all. And happy kilting.
