From the website of Nine News:

"You don't have to wear a kilt or play a bagpipe, but it may help get you in mood for the 1st Annual Colorado Tartan Day. The celebration in honor of Scottish heritage and culture will be on April 5th at the Highland Hills Golf and Entertainment Complex in Westminster.

Colorado's Tartan Day is a great way to learn about Scots. There will be dozens of events including performances by traditional Scottish Highland dancers, bagpipe and drummers, Highland Tea, a Ceildh party, a "Kilted Golf Tournament" (again, kilts not required), and even a Scotch tasting for Scots 21 and older.

Historians will even be on site to share their knowledge of Scottish heritage."

The "historians on site" included my group, the Renaissance Scots. It was a great Tartan Day festival, with a lot of interesting and interested people. I set in with the weavers today, and I watched Mark weaving a length of the Colorado state tartan. I've never done that... I also bugged him with questions that the audience might never have thought of, like the difference between ancient, modern and weathered tartan. And to top it all off- I met up with several of our board members, including Mudd and Livingston! That made the whole day just that much better.

Everyone else having a lovely Tartan Day celebration? Time for a wee dram o' scotch...
