Oh, no. The regimets wore/wear that combination regularly, and I am pretty sure that the Scouts copied their look from the British military. (I, too, wore that combo in in the Scouts in another century!)
I heartily appove of your look, Pinache. I wear a very similar look in the summer because of the practicality of the khaki shirt and the very neat, clean lines of the look. I prefer the balmoral myself, but my wife likes the glengarry, so . . . :

(BTW, this is an old photo, and I know the kilt is too tight. I've lost weight since! AND, I don't like the matching flashes as much as I do the red ones.)
My only suggestion is that you tie the ribbons on the bonnet. I know that there is a great deal of disagreement about that in general, but the military would never wear the ribbons losse on a balmoral like they do on a glengarry.
