... my wife and I have noticed that Hancocks, while excellent in most aspects, does stock according to region.
Not just Hancock. Our JoAnn stores here in Austin are the same. At either chain, you're hard-pressed to find more than 4 or 5 bolts of wool or wool blend.
[However, at JoAnn today, I found a beautiful saffron wool that screamed, "Buy me! Make an Irish!" Unfortunately it cost $18 per yard, a little rich for me this week, but I'll be checking frequently for a sale.]
