Yesterday was the induction of names to the International Association of Firefighter Memorial. 137 brave men fell last year in the line of duty, and their names were placed on the wall. I haven't heard the numbers yet, but there were hundreds of firefighters in town, and they all went to our pub last night! The police closed off the street in front of the pub, and the pipe and drum bands were performing right there. It was something else!
Cudos to Colorado Springs, Seattle, Sacremento, Boston, Toronto, and all of the other bands for a phenomenal performance! We particularily liked Seattle; those guys know how to play to an audience. Kilts were everywhere, and I was glad I wore mine last night. The tartans represented wereFirefighter, MacLeod, Farquarson, and a few others. I would love to know who made Toronto's kilts; they were obviously exceptionally well made kilts. But they got away before I could ask them.

While we were watching the bands play, we saw a band in a tartan we had never seen before. They were wearing kilts made of pbi matrix fire suit material, with a reflective stripe down each side! If I recall, the band was from Cleveland, Ohio. I immediately thought of Hamish and his Hi-Viz kilt. Figure if I do get to volunteer with my local district next year, I'm gonna have to get that one!

On a stupid note, the wife and I were running behind, and left the darned camera at the house! Have to see if I can get pics from someone else to post.
