Okay, I followed Big Mikey's advice and hooked up the three kilt strap extenders I got from USA Kilts to my "shrunken" kilt.

I'm very pleased with the results. There's no "buckle bulge" from under the kilt on the left side. All you see on the left side is the same strap coming through the hole in the kilt as normal.

Took a pic of the right side with the kilt strap extenders hooked up.

Its sort of confusing to look at (at least for me). The buckles to the left side of the picture are the buckles that are sewn down to the kilt - the original buckles. The buckles closest to the apron fringe are the buckles of the kilt strap extenders with the original straps that are sewn to the kilt apron coming through them.

Lower and on the right side of the picture is a loose kilt strap extender so you can see what it looks like. You'll notice there are many more holes than in the original kilt straps.

I wore this kilt out and about town to our local hot air balloon glow tonight and the kilt felt normal. No problems.

The "look" on the double strap side is a bit much but my sense is folks that don't know kilts won't know. Tonight it was chilly enough to wear a bomber jacket to cover the straps. Suppose a sweater and some vests would also cover them if you don't like the look.

Me, I'm just happy to be able to wear the kilt again.
